My name is DeWayne Arnold, and I am the new Deputy Comptroller for NAVFAC FE, located on Yokosuka Naval Base.  I do not know about you, but I am always interested in networking and engaging in professional development opportunities, so I thought about becoming a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC), Yokosuka Chapter.  To my surprise, Yokosuka does not have an active chapter.  Now, this is an opportunity in itself, meaning we have the opportunity to reenergize the Yokosuka Chapter to active status and gaining professional development CPEs along the way.  So, is anyone else interested? I am working with Al Runnels, the ASMC Executive Director on the paperwork as well as helpful information to get us started.  More information to follow!

    Aloha DeWayne,
As you may have guessed, I'm replying to you from the great state of Hawaii where we have a very active Chapter! I've held many roles on the committee to include Chapter President and would be willing to assist you with getting your Chapter started. I'd be happy to discuss with you further, but I wanted to send a personal invite to our Regional PDI.

Our RPDI will be held 17-18 April 2019 and is forming into yet another amazing event. Our chapter is comprised of all services and each agency is well represented with Senior Leader presenters from world-wide. Last year's event was said to rival National's and is an amazing opportunity for our 500+ members to enjoy a great training and networking experience.

If you, or anyone else, is interested in more details please contact me at Alohachapterrpdi@hotmail.com.

    DeWayne,

I am enthusiastic on having the Yokosuka, Japan Chapter re-activated and look forward to you helping to take the lead for revitalizing the chapter which faded off approximately three years ago. You have my full support and encourage others in the Yokosuka area to reach out and bring the local FM community closer.

I was actively involved in the San Diego chapter when I was there and this is definitely a great way to help network, build professional/personal relationships, and provides great professional development. I will reach out to some of the other Comptroller shops on base and see if we can get a regular drumbeat moving forward.

    DeWayne,

I remember you from being in my EDFMT session a while back. Sounds like you are doing well -- congratulations on your new position.

I hope you have good luck founding an ASMC chapter at Yokosuka. I helped charter a chapter back in 1983. It is a rewarding experience.

By the way, I'll be teaching EDFMT at Yokota next week, and Kadena the week after. Seats should still be available for anyone who wants to register.

DeWayne,  Great talking with you yesterday regarding reactivation of our Yokosuka Chapter.  I really appreciate your willingness to take the lead in returning the chapter to an operational status, such that it provides valuable training and professional development assistance to its members and to the overall financial management community there in the Yokosuka Naval Base area.  Al

Robert,  Very much appreciate your support as well.  Best.  Al
